March 29, 2008: And the winner is...
The eighth Film Jam and inaugural Battle of the Jams was a huge success. Over 200 people filled the El Mocambo on Mar 28th, 2008 to witness some the best acts from the past Film Jams go head to head, competing for a $10,000 music video.
At the end of the night it was the soulful Everything That’s Fly, and the eclectic rock of Streetlight Light that came out on top, edging out Man the Destroyer and Faceless Nameless to move onto the finals at Film Jam 10, on July 25th, 2008.
In addition to the bands, the night was accompanied by a successful canned food drive for Serving Charity, jewelry makers Ruffles and Stripes, poetry by Kirk Davis and as always, popcorn!
The next round of the battle is hitting the El Mocambo on May 30th, 2008, with the lineup that includes Oriana, The Lovely Killbots, Automatic City, Robert Desmond Band and Lunchbag Letdown. It is a night that cannot be missed so buy your tickets today to support your favourite film jam act!
March 19, 2008: The Battle Begins March 28, 2008!
The Film Jam is back and better than ever! In its eighth installment, the bands from the previous seven Film Jams will be going head-to-head, competing for the chance to have a $10,000 music video made! The competition will be in two parts, where 2 bands each from both Film Jam 8 and 9 (on May 31, 2008) will move on to the finals to compete for the music video at Film Jam 10 on July 25, 2008.
With your votes, the favourite Film Jam band will move on to win a music video that will help them explode into the industry.
In addition to the huge battle, we’ll still be showcasing films, artists, videogames, collecting canned foods for Serving Charity and as always…popcorn!
An added talent to this Jam will also be Oriana, an up-and-coming R&B singer. Although not part of the battle for this Jam, she is set to melt the El Mocambo with her sultry voice. You can learn more about her here .

March 01, 2008: Let the battle begin:
Here it comes, the night of Friday March 28, 2008 is the date of Film Jam 8, which will be the first of three “Battle of the Jams”. Five bands will play at Film Jam 8, and then five more will play at Film Jam 9. Through your votes, two bands will come out on top at each event and go on to compete at Film Jam 10 on Friday July 25, 2008 for a Grand Prize!
Film Jam 8’s lineup includes: Man the Destroyer, Everything That’s Fly, Streetlight Light, and Faceless Nameless. The order of the performances will be selected as a lottery at the beginning of the show. As always, there will be short films, artists, canned good drive for Serving Charity and a DJ spinning on the wheels of steel to keep the party going!
The Grand Prize will be a $10,000 music video produced by Landed Entertainments. So come out to Film Jam 8 on Friday March 28, 2008 to vote for your favourite artist and help them get their very own music video!
