November 20, 2006 :
Film Jam 2 A Success.
Julian Samuels

The Landed Film Jam 2 was a huge success with over 300 people packed into the historic El Mocambo on a rainy Thursday night.  A ton of money and canned food was raised for the Poorest of the Poor Foundation and the roof almost blew off with some of the finest and most talented bands, DJ’s, artists and filmmakers in Toronto.

People exploded with laughter at the exploits in “Big City,” and had their minds blown by the thoughts of “Happy Hour.” They grooved along with soulful styling of the Hip-Hop trio, Everything’s That’s Fly, which featured a crowd-pleasing cover of a Fugee’s classic and had their perception altered by the ever-evolving Mindbender.  The crowd also had their hearts melted by the melodic duo, Dala, rocked along to the smokey vocals of Negar and the show closed out with a massive bang that almost brought the Elmo to the ground with Automatic City.  All of this was complimented with the eye-catching and mind-expanding artists: Theresa Talotta, Jibola and Ilichna Morasky.  The joint was kept fresh by DJ’s Awristoscrtach, Ear-to-Ear and Kotep who spun the 1’s and 2’s like it was going out of style!

Hosted by the beautiful and talented Skye Collyer, the Film Jam 2 has set the bar again for showcasing local talent and celebrating Toronto.  A special thank you goes out to all the Filmmakers, artists, DJ’s and bands that made the night a huge success.  In one night, every genre from folk to hip hop and anything in between converged at the El Mocambo, and if everyone thought that was huge, you haven’t seen anything yet!
